Why I do not want to be on your list.

It is the end of the year and that means that there are lists. Lists comes with an understood rule.  It means that you have to act a certain way.  Now, if your goal is to become famous get on the list.  The reason I write is not for notoriety.  I have done TV in the past and might do it in the future.

I am not against any lists and if you make it on one you deserve it.  Without people pointing out my blog, retweeting, linking, the emails thanking me, etc chances are you wouldn’t be reading this.  I am thankful for it, by all means add me to your list and keep promoting the things you think are good.  But do not add me to a list because you think I will retweet it because I wont.  This is not about some moral high ground because it is not. It is about longevity and finishing something I started.

I started writing to give a different point of view.  To continue a tradition.  I believe in trading futures and if I am going to have people to compete against there needs to be some education and passing of the torch.

Yes, I do write to build my brand, whatever that means.  I am a co-founder of an education company and I think everyone should signup below for the Morning Brief no matter what you trade and some should consider the education we provide. But much to my partners chagrin I have told many people that it isn’t a good fit for either of us and they should wait.

Having a blog has allowed me to talk with people from all over the world.  It has allowed me to be in rooms where I couldn’t get into any other way.  I got to meet some incredible people and have gotten some great endorsements.  It has allowed me to grow as a trader, writer, and a person.

Put me on your list if you must but do it because you think it will help your readers.  Do it because it is a different perspective.  Do it because it showed you a different way to look at things.

At the time, I was 1 of 3 players in the history of Indiana High School football to be named to the All-State team 3 times.  What it got me was my number #1 and only school I was looking at, pulling my scholarship offer a month before signing day(best thing that ever happened to me) and having to start as a walk-on and earning a scholarship.  It made me an egomaniac destine for failure. Lists are nice and they can get you into places but you still have to perform.

If you add me to a list, thank you.  But I am not going retweet it, write a post about, etc.  It is not wrong to do so but I would rather get the job with no strings attached and with nothing in return but adding value.  I would be lying if I said it did not motivate me when I get left off a list because it does.  But at this point in my life I need motivation more than praise.
